如何挑选密封件用之橡胶材料

在选用密封件用之橡胶材料时,须考虑几种重要的指标,分述如下:

一、使用条件之考量
1、需接触的物体(包含液体、气体、固体及各项化学药剂);
2、温度区间(最低及最高温度);
3、压力区间(密封件承受压力时的最低压缩比率之考虑);
4、静态或动态使用之考量。

 

二、设计需求考量
1、组合之考量;
2、使用中可能化学反应之考量;
3、使用寿命考量及可能失败原因检讨;
4、组建润滑度及组装方式考量;
5、公差方明考量。

三、检验需求考量
1、定义出检验标准;
2、决定样本确认之需求性;
3、设定允许标准;
4、主要密封表面设定、

四、材质规范之选择
1、决定材质规范之选用如美国ASTM,德国DIN,日本JIS...等;
2、与供应商讨论,定义胶材之选用;
3、选用供货品质的供货商。

 

五、成本之考量
选用适合之胶料,避免选用成本高且不符实用之胶材,造成成品无法发挥密封功能,无论是天然或人工合成之橡胶均拥有一般橡胶特性,如受压缩之后弹力回复性,耐曲折性,耐挤性及对气体液体之耐渗透性,每一类橡胶弹性体均有它独特之性能,能使籍由橡胶配方之组合物也能对其性能表现产生影响。

When selecting elastomeric seals for specific applications
the following selection criteria should be noted

一、The usage encironment that are to be considered include;
1、Materials that will come into contact with the rubber(chemical,solid,and liquid additives).
2/Temperature range including minimum and maximum operating conditions,as well as themal cycles and potentialexcurions or peaks.
3/Pressure range including minimum and maximumoperating conditionswith an error range and compression/decompression rate if the pressure is high.
4、Motion-either static or dynamic.Where dynamic motion is ubiquitous,specific descriptions may bi required.

二、The design requirements of the particular sealing application
are also critical including:
1、Geometric components,like O-ring,gasket,diaphragm,etc.
2、Chemical media's affect on the seal;
3、Desired service lifetime.If it is a replacementfor a falled seal.which material was used before and why did it fall;
4、Assembly considerations including lubricants,installed stretch,etc.
5、Critical dimensions and tolerances,includinggroove dimensions and machining tolerances.

三、It is important to consider theinspection requirements including:
1、Defining inspection criteria;
2、Determining the need for lot sampling;
3、Setting acceptable quality leveis[AQLs];
4、Indicating the critical sealing surface

四、Material specification andtraceability are also critical for
proper seal selection.
1、Define material specifications by the AmericanSociety for Testing and Materials(ASTM).Society of Automotive Engineers(SAE),military specification or other recognized standards;
2、Discuss with your seal supplier the procedure forspecifying and certifying sealing materials;
3、Ask your supplier if compound changes can bemade without customer's knowledge,and how toprotect yourself from it.Also,are hardness buttons,tensile bars or other test specimens required for
incoming material verification.

五、Cost versus Value
When selecting materials for your particular sealing application,the guiding
principle should be "value-in-use".When evaluating seal performance,seal
life and maintenance costs must be included.For example,a seal made from
EPM may be appropriate for many general applications where heat and steamare encountered,but inappropriate at higher temperature when contaminatedsteam and frequent maintenance are required.The relatively higher price of afluoroelastomer or perfluoroelastomer will be recouped many times over by aseal's long service life.Specifying the proper high performance seal can alsoprevent costly unscheduled downtime and dangerous leakage.
